Gaia Photonics was founded by Ingo Speier [link] in 2008 as an independent organization that specializes in providing consulting services in Solid State Lighting (SSL).
The founder has been involved in SSL since its early beginnings and helped visionary SSL companies develop award winning technologies:
- Invented, developed and lead the NPI efforts of Quarkstar's award winning Edge-X technology
- Cofounded Cooledge Lighting
- Was instrumental in the development of the award winning LEXEL technology at Philips Lighting (formerly TIR Systems)
- Inventor on more than 100 patent filings worldwide

Our team has taken the Quarkstar Edge-X technology from concept to New Product Introduction which included:
- Design, fabrication and characterizion of more than 20 different Edge-X technology demonstrators for tradeshows such as Lightfair and Light + Building often under very tight timeframes
- Product design and product qualification of the Edge-X technology
- Established and operated a small volume manufacturing facility
Over the years Gaia Photonics has developed a trusted network of supply partners in North America, Europe and Asia that has been essential in cost effective and timely implementation of designs and products.
